Here’s how we work…

From initial consultation to approved plans, we guide you at every step.

• We talk about your vision. What do you want to achieve? We look at your needs, goals, and lifestyle. We look at local zoning and building code constraints. Then we start to align your vision and budget with a tangible—and buildable—reality.
• We collaborate with you—and give you options. We’ll give you options, discuss them—and help you figure out the best solution for you. Sometimes there may be another solution to give you what you want. A more cost-efficient one, or one that will radically transform your experience of your home, in ways you never considered. Our goal is to help you make the most informed decision, so you can move forward confidently.
• We navigate regulatory constraints, creatively. City and state building codes placed on construction have become more complex, especially in California. We know these codes extremely well, and that’s what allows us to get creative within them—so that your space doesn’t look like everybody else’s.
• We thoughtfully consider flow and function. In our designs, we place tremendous emphasis on the flow between spaces, sight lines that create clarity and continuity, and forms that are elegant in their simplicity (though this is not always simple to achieve). Through careful thought, consideration, and refinement, we get your plans to a place that’s just right.
• We deal directly with building departments, so you don’t have to. Amazing plans won’t get you anywhere if they’re not approved. We coordinate with engineers, advocate for our designs, and work with city and county agencies to get through the very technical approval process.
