From awkward to amazing.

We came into this project to design a remodel of the third floor. But, after walking up the precarious entry steps to a tiny entry porch at the end of a long living room, we knew there was more to be done.
An existing stair tower on the side of the house connected all the levels of the house and was well-located near the center of activity and traffic flow within the house. That’s when it came to us! We extended one of the landings in the stair tower to make a new entry on the side of the house and turned the formerly unused side yard into an entry courtyard providing a graceful approach to the re-imagined home.
Yes, the homeowners got their third floor remodel, but one basic move—moving the entry—transformed the way they and their guests experience the house.
